COVID-19 VACCINE DELIVERY MORE COMPLICATED THAN EXPECTED FOR NURSING HOMES

Long-term care facilities have been at the top of the list to receive the first round of COVID-19 vaccines due to the increased risks for the elderly population.

It turns out, the delivery of the vaccine is a little more complicated than initially thought due to more than 50% of nursing home residents being cognitively impaired or living with dementia.

Mass vaccination then becomes problematic for patients, families, and facilities that may disagree on the appropriate course of action for each individual based on their level of risk for the virus.
