ARKANSAS DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFERS NEW ASSISTANCE FOR THE DEAF

For the first time, the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management is offering a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Course Facilitator program for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. There is no doubt that this type of disaster preparedness education can be life-saving for those who are hearing impaired during hazardous situations.

“Specifically, we will be talking about individual preparedness like putting together disaster kits for the home, if you’re in a disaster you need to be prepared to be on your own for about three days, that includes water and food," said Ragen. "If you’re in the earthquake zones and we have an earthquake, you really need to be prepared for about two weeks.”

CHUG provides long-term care organizations with expert coordination of evacuation, transportation, relocation and shelter-in-place services.
