INFECTIOUS DISEASES MUST BE INCLUDED IN NURSING HOME EMERGENCY PLANS

With the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been made abundantly clear that nursing homes have to be more prepared when unexpected infectious diseases surface. We know the recent pandemic isn’t the only or last time, a pandemic will threaten the lives of our global population.

“We found 48 instances at 25 nursing homes of possible noncompliance with infection prevention and control requirements and 18 instances at 18 nursing homes of possible noncompliance with emergency preparedness requirements related to all-hazards risk assessments and strategies to address emerging infectious diseases,” the OIG said.

CHUG helps facilities get prepared for current and emerging infectious diseases through:

  • Risk Assessments

  • Emergency Operations Plan Templates

  • Evacuation Plans and Mutual Aid for Relocation

  • Communication Plans

  • Testing and Exercises

  • 30-minute EOP Annual Training

  • Consulting on Life Safety Plan of Corrections

IT’S NOT IF IT WILL HAPPEN, BUT WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN.
