DISPARITIES IN HEALTHCARE ACCESS CONTINUE TO HINDER DISASTER RECOVERY FOR MINORITIES

The COVID-19 pandemic highlights the ongoing need for resources to better understand how social determinants of health like economic stability, education access, and quality hinder recovery efforts especially for underserved populations

“The Office of Minority Health defines health equity as “the attainment of the highest level of health for all people.  Achieving health equity requires valuing everyone equally with focused and ongoing societal efforts to address avoidable inequalities, historical and contemporary injustices, and the elimination of health and healthcare disparities.”
