DEHYDRATION CAN BE DEADLY FOR OLDER ADULTS, ESPECIALLY DURING HEAT WAVES

As summer heats up around the country, staying hydrated is increasingly important, but for seniors, dehydration can be fatal.

When you’re caring for the elderly, it’s important to recognize these dehydration signs:

  • dry mouth

  • tiredness or fatigue

  • sunken eyes

  • a decrease in urination

  • urine that’s a darker color than normal

  • muscle cramping

  • feeling dizzy or lightheaded

For seniors with mobility issues or underlying health conditions, it’s especially important that getting adequate daily fluids is prioritized.
