Heatwave Dangers For Seniors and Their Medications

With some states seeing triple-digit temperatures across the country this summer, it can be dangerous for anyone, but especially for seniors.

Those medications most commonly prescribed to older adults and seniors can make staying cool and hydrated more difficult, ensuring seniors and their caregivers are informed about drugs and their side effects is at the top of the heat sickness prevention list.

"When you know that you're taking a diuretic or a water pill for blood pressure issues, it's important that you stay hydrated, and that you will take additional fluids on top of what you would normally do to make sure it's not affecting you adversely,"
