Community Partners Team Up For A Mass Casualty Exercise To Enhance Emergency Preparedness
Barton Health, together with local police, fire, and first responders, recently conducted a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Exercise to strengthen emergency and healthcare preparedness for large-scale events in the Lake Tahoe community.
The most recent exercise on October 25 simulated an active shooter scenario at Barton Memorial Hospital.
Previous MCI exercises have included a structure collapse and stampede at Lake Tahoe Community College fields, an active shooter drill at Lake Tahoe High School, and a wildfire evacuation drill at Barton Memorial Hospital in May 2021.
“Much like flexing a muscle improves strength, first-responders including police, fire teams, emergency medical services, and healthcare workers practice emergency response to refine and improve emergency preparedness,”
CHUG members have access to a comprehensive suite of educational workshops that leverage real-life case studies to teach members how to effectively respond to active shooters/assailants in the face of adversity. Having this training can literally be lifesaving. Not a member yet? Become a member today >
