CMS Still Fighting for Value-Based Care

At a recent panel, experts emphasized the persistent requirement for healthcare providers to embrace value-based care. While the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has pledged its support for this transition, skilled nursing providers continue to be underrepresented in the value-based care ecosystem.

CMS officials acknowledged the need to enhance the long-term viability of innovative ACO approaches and educate providers about risk-sharing mechanisms. They also highlighted the significance of collaboration and technology in resolving conflicts and optimizing healthcare coordination.

“We are trying to find a permanent pathway for all of our innovations over the long run, but we know there are still a number of providers who aren’t in accountable care and aren’t in value-based care, and we have to think about why that’s the case and make sure we are providing those opportunities for them.”

The key to successfully mitigating any emergency is preparedness. CHUG members have access to a comprehensive suite of educational workshops that utilize real-life case studies to teach effective responses to emergency situations. This training can be lifesaving.
