CHUG: COVID-19 Amplifies Need for All-Hazards Approach

It should come as no surprise that the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the need for an all-hazards approach to emergency planning. In fact, business continuity depends on it.

“Effective business continuity planning (BCP) starts with a business continuity team that can tackle the plan development in phases. Every BCP starts with a hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA). The HVA assesses the level of risk, preparedness and impact on an individual healthcare organization of hazards of any kind, including natural disasters, infrastructure failures, security threats, mass casualty events and, now, infectious diseases (e.g., Ebola, Zika and COVID-19).”

At CHUG, we know that an HVA is a cornerstone of how well an organization can navigate unplanned events and it starts with proactive planning.
