CHUG Cares About the Member Experience

CHUG CARES ABOUT THE MEMBER EXPERIENCE, HIRES JINA LEBERT-DAVIES

In recently joining the CHUG team as a Consultant Educator, I’ve hit the ground running. I’ve been enjoying reconnecting with Nursing Home Administrators and reacquainting them with the education and training opportunities offered to them as CHUG members. In addition, I am ensuring that CHUG has the most updated Critical Information Form so that when we need to notify or activate our emergency response services for members, we have the critical points of contact.

While I understand that taking my phone call can sometimes feel like yet another interruption in a busy day for healthcare professionals, I have been greeted enthusiastically with feedback like, “Oh, I started here last week and was just looking for our CHUG Manual”, or “Hey, I was just thinking we are overdue for our emergency preparedness training.”

It feels very rewarding to be able to provide a little direction and peace of mind in these moments especially because as a Nursing Home Administrator myself, I know what it’s like to be responsible for the safety of all our patients and staff in a potential disaster scenario, and that pressure can feel immense. As a previous CHUG member myself, knowing that CHUG provided the resources and tools to guide our community in the event of an emergency was empowering. I knew in an urgent situation, CHUG had our back, and that was reassuring for someone in my role, as it is for the healthcare organizations we serve.

For those administrators who currently have too much on their plate to speak with me about CHUG evacuation plan updates, training, or to complete the Critical Information Form, I’m happy to follow up by email or a scheduled meeting to help them make the most of their membership.

Right now, we understand the changing landscape of long-term care as the staff turnover is nearly 50%. This means new employees with varying training levels and understanding when it comes to emergency preparedness. In order for members to benefit from CHUG’s expansive mutual aid system, members must make sure to keep their contact information, Critical Information Forms, and any other incident-related information updated.

If you’re new to your role or it’s been a while since you’ve updated your information, please contact me directly at jina.lebert@chugteam.org or give us a call at 866-794-2210.
